Situated just an hour away from London and conveniently located to the A12 and A14, it is an ideal gateway to many other parts of the UK including the Midlands and the North of England. Beauty spots just a stone’s throw away include Aldeburgh, Lavenham, Woodbridge and Constable Country Dedham and Flatford Mill.

Sales Consultant
DEPARTMENT: Sales & Marketing
REPORTING TO: Sales Team Leader
LOCATION: Debenham, Suffolk


The Sales Consultant is responsible for actively following up any leads and converting contacts into customers, this will be mainly focused on Direct clients. There will also be a responsibility for servicing and growing sales with affiliates and on occasions servicing agents.
Sales Consultants are expected to provide excellent levels of Customer Service at all times and maintain the ethos and values of the company at all times, whilst striving to hit and exceed their Monthly Sales Targets.

• At least 2 years in Sales with a proven sales track record
• Experience in the adventure travel industry is preferable
• Broad travel experience to at least two of the following continents – Asia, Africa, Middle East or Latin America
• Knowledge of flight reservation systems helpful
• Good computer, internet and keyboard skills


• Ability to work autonomously and within a team
• Enthusiastic and motivated, focused on achieving team and personal results
• Proactive and positive approach to work, with a ‘can do’ attitude to problem solving
• Good communicator, with a friendly, pleasant and confident telephone manner to develop rapport
• Quick to establish client needs, recognize sales opportunities, match products and close the sale
• Passion for travel
• Commercially aware of any factors affecting business and openly supportive of change
• Open-minded attitude to evolving procedures and improving how we do things
• Ability to build good working relationships with colleagues in all departments
• Attention to detail, high levels of accuracy whilst maintaining efficiency are essential
• Quick to pick up new systems and processes and share knowledge with other team members
• Adaptable and accepting of different cultures and work environments
• Able to relax and have fun at work and still meet objectives

Role Expectations and Responsibilities Benchmark Measure
Personal sales

 Individual performance against target
 Conversion of options due to expire to bookings
 Overall team performance
 Managing and growing sales for specific affiliates/agents as agreed with the Sales Team Leader
 Maximise the sales of add ons to customers, incl. flights, insurance..
 Proactively making suggestions on sales process improvements
 Attending travel shows and industry events as required
 Working on social media as agreed within the team

Providing excellent standards of customer service

 Servicing all enquiries within 24 hours (longer for full responses)
 Providing information in a proactive manner
 Achieving good satisfaction scores (measurement to be put in place)
 Reducing customer sales-related complaints, and associated costs (measurement to be put in place)
 Maintaining a detailed knowledge of the company’s products
 Being a knowledge ‘champion’ using “on-road” experience, to help resolve specific queries and increase knowledge of the team
 Demonstrating improved product knowledge and making best use of information facilities available
 Demonstrating communication of Dragoman’s core values in all aspects of communication

Building and maintaining a high standard of efficiency and accuracy

 Any inaccuracies at an acceptably low level
 Punctuality

 Cover colleagues work load when away from the office
