Africa Region Dossier
North Africa
Hooded figures in yellow slippers shuffle past ornately tiled facades; in the green shade of a garden a fountain trickles beneath orange trees filled with birdsong; a column of loose-kneed camels passes beneath a moorish gate, heading for the endless expanse of the Sahara; the call to prayer unfurls across the rooftops beneath a deep blue sky, echoing around the city. The colours and sounds of North Africa are like another world.

East Africa
East Africa is what most people imagine when they think of Africa - vast herds of wildebeest spilling out across the grasslands of the Serengeti; red-robed Maasai warrioirs walking across a savannah studded with flat-top acacias in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro; a thousand flamingos taking to the air above Kenya's shimmering Lake Nakuru. From chaotic, colourful cities to the thick rainforest on the slopes of Uganda's Ruwenzori Mountains - last refuge of the Mountain gorilla - East Africa is unforgettable.

Southern Africa
If it's wildlife you're after, Southern Africa is hard to beat, from the lush waterways of Botswana's Okavango Delta, where you drift soundlessly past animals in your canoe, to the stark beauty of Namibia, home of the desert elephant and the black-maned Kalahari lion. Discover Cape Town, one of the most exciting cities anywhere; see the magnificent Victoria Falls, one of the Natural wonders of the world, and feel the warmth of Africa in the friendliness of the people as you travel through this remarkable region.
