Here are a few of the friendly faces who will be coming along...

Charlie Hopkinson: Managing Director

In 1983, at the ripe young age of 23 Charlie hit the road on an overland adventure as a passenger from Cairo to Johannesburg and managed to return to London as the co-driver before co-founding an overland company of his own, Dragoman Overland! From that moment to 1987 he led trips to all corners of the world from Namibia to Nepal. In 2011 ImTrav joined the Dragoman family and the rest is history...

Charlie still has a very ‘hands on’ approach to running the business and a strong sense of adventure - recent escapades include trekking in Bhutan, wildlife spotting in Borneo and being on the first overland truck to travel through Myanmar and he is really enjoying the new Tailor Made side of the business.

Catch Charlie at the Meet the Experts Theatre on Sunday at 2.30pm where he'll be giving a talk on overlanding in undiscovered destinations such as Iran, Sudan and the Omo Valley in Ethiopia. He'll also be giving presentations at the Dragoman truck on stand AA78 throughout the weekend.

Amy Whitwood

After her A Levels, Amy went to University to study Record Production. After travelling to Cuba and Brazil, she soon realised that her future no longer lied in music, but in travel instead. She decided to follow her heart and peruse a career in travel, beginning with Leisure holidays before branching out to Corporate Travel and finally landing in the Adventure Travel industry. Amy has been part of the ImTrav family since 2015 and heads the consultancy and business development of our tailor-made business.

Recent jaunts include Iceland, South Africa, Mexico, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Borneo, Australia, NZ, USA, Hawaii and the Caribbean.

If you’re thinking of a bespoke experience, then Amy is your girl!

Helen Youngman: Product and Business Development

Helen got her first taste of real adventure and immersion in another culture at the age of 19 whilst spending a year living and working in the urban slums of Dhaka, Bangladesh. After this point she realised wanted to work in the ethical side of the travel industry and worked for a London based adventure travel company for 4 years before moving to our busy HQ in Suffolk. Helen now uses her knowledge of the world to look after our product department.

Helen is a vibrant person with a real passion for people, culture and is a real foodie at heart. Her extensive travelling combined with her love of food means she is not be reckoned with in the kitchen. Her recent adventures include exploring Indonesia, Burma, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Georgia, Turkey.

Nathan Smith: Graphic Designer

Nathan first caught the travel bug after working in a US summer camp during the summer of 2005. A year later he embarked on a round the world trip India, Thailand, Oz, NZ, Fiji and the USA. He then decided he wanted to peruse a career in design so headed back to uni to study for a degree in graphic design. Nathan has also been with the ImTrav family since 2013, first working in the sales department before moving over to head up the design department.

Photography and culture are Nathan’s main passions and he loves nothing more than getting under the skin of a country and documenting it on camera.

Recent adventures include Ethiopia, Italy India, Vietnam and Japan.

Mike Marlowe:  Marketing Manager

Mike has had an interesting and colourful career working in many professions, from being a racing driver to leading a manufacturing business unit. In recent years he's returned to his first love of travel which has included working as a professional photographer.

This led to developing a taste for the open road and he ended up working as an overland driver and tour leader for a few years. Mike continues to go away on photography trips, travelling and bringing his experience to the ever expanding Imaginative Traveller team.

Recent trips include Iran, Italy, West Africa and India.
