costa rica Reviews

Review 1

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

It was all memorable, because it was so varied and we saw so much...rain forest volcanoes, mountains, beach, city.

What did you think of your tour leader?

He was excellent. Very knowledgeable and experienced. Everything went smoothly. Very nice person, friendly, but giving us our own space too.

What advice would you give to other travellers?

I think this tour is very worthwhile and good value. I liked the fact that we spent two nights or three nights in one place (except for just the one night in the San Jose hotel before we left) so did not feel rushed. There was plenty of walking and the hotels were good and it did not feel 'touristy'.

Review 2

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

White water rafting on the Pacuare river Cano Negro boat trip Arenal Volcano observation point

What did you think of your tour leader?

The Ecole tour guide was very good and shared her knowledge and experience with us. All of the other tour guides on the additional trips were all very good

Do you feel your holiday benefited local people?

Tourism brings revenue into the community so yes.

Do you feel that you got under the skin of a country?

There was quite a contrast in the areas we visited so it gave you an insight of the different cultures and ways of life.

What advice would you give to other travellers?

I would not recommend spending any additional days in San Jose as I found it had very little of interest and was quite a threatening city particularly at night. You get very wet in both the climate and activities so bring plenty of changes of clothing

Amazing Costa Rica

Hi Imaginative Traveller, I'm booked on the Amazing Costa Rica trip and I was hoping you all could help me out with a couple of details. I have the names of the hotels we're staying at in San Jose at the start and end of the trip, but can you please tell me where we'll be staying the rest of the nights? My family -- who are not at all happy that I'm going to the jungle in the first place -- wants to know where I'll be, and I'd also appreciate the chance to prepare mentally, too. Another detail that I'm not too clear on is the situation with luggage. What caught my eye was the advice to bring a backpack rather than luggage on wheels, and I guess I'm curious as to why... My impression is that the bus would basically take us, and the luggage, from the front door of one hotel to the front door of the next and there would be minimal bag carrying (or bag rolling, as the case may be). Please correct me if I have the wrong idea. I don't mean to be so "detail-oriented," but I've never done this before, so the more I know and am prepared for, the more confidence I'll have going into this. Thanks a lot. Looking forward to the trip.... --Jay

Costa Rica availability

Hello, I was checking availability for 2 trips (Jaguar trail and Volcano connection) and I saw that these 2 trips are sold out for all the dates in 2009 ! Is it correct or a problem with the system ? I was planning to go in November 09 and it seems strange to me that the trip is already full... thanks Olivia

Rainforest Adventure Costa Rica 2nd Nov 08

Hi, Is anyone booked on the Rainforest Adventure trip, Costa Rica starting on the 2nd November 2008? I would be nice to get an idea of who else was booked on the trip and how many others are expected.

Rainforest adventure Costa Rica

Hi, Has anyone done the rainforest adventure trip in Costa Rica?, if so it would be nice to hear your thoughts on clothing - what to take etc. We're planning on going in November, which according to Imtrav is after the rainy season, but other websites say November is the end of the rainy season. Any recommendations on waterproof gear? We were thinking of taking ponchos to carry around with us and use when needed- as humidity will be high and if rainy, surely it will be a tropical downpour that doesnt last a long time? Also, would like to know if its a good idea to take waterproof shoes etc for walking round forests etc - not sure how wet underfoot it will be, and we have also been told that it gets very cold around the volcanoes due to altitude? And that in the Limon province it is best to wear long sleeves and trousers due to mosquitos? Any info or advice would be great. Thanks

Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama, from the Rainforest Adventure tour, and the Quetzal Quest!

If you like beautiful beaches, crazy active volcanoes, and tons of wildlife, then this part of Central America is for you! Costa Rica is a wildlife photographers dream. I could only do so much with my little handheld, but hopefull these will give you an idea of whats in store for anyone coming to this part of the world. Nicaragua is one of the nicest, but least visited parts of Central America, and the colonial city of Granada is fantastic! Panama is a surprising country, very modern, and very poor at the same time. The beaches are great, the coffee is some of the best in the world, and the people are friendly! Here are some shots from the Rainforest Adventure tour in Costa Rica, and from the Quetzal Quest tour that takes in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama, and includes a visit to Corcovado National park in Costa Rica!!! It is by far the most beautiful National Park I have ever visited anywhere in the world! All of the photos are from our tours!
