Roger was great, spoke wonderful English, was extremely knowledgeable about all manner of topics and gave us an insight,I thought, into the Cuban way of life
I think it would take much longer than two weeks to do this. Also, as tourists we were insulated against the hardships faced by ordinary Cubans. However,I did get some insight into the Cuban way of life, enough to make me think I would like to go back again and might even be adventurous enough to do this by myself
Just make sure you know exactly what you're letting yourself in for. Read all the literature. On my trip there were one or two people who had rather unrealistic expectations of the infrastructure in Cuba and were, I thought, on the wrong holiday. This could have caused more problems than it did, were it not for the professional way in which our guide dealt with their incessant demands.
