Hi - I'm looking at going on the Big Five Reserved trip in March. I am wondering about all the camping - I am not really a big camper. Will there be some showers around and how primitive are the tents? You can level with me...

Also, I went to Egypt in 2000, will I need to have different vaccinations from that? I also heard about some new flu from chickens - any advice on how to avoid?

Re: Big Five Reserved

Hi Louise

Thanks for your post.

Although there will be showers in some of the campsites, you should expect some campsites to be a little more basic in terms of facilities, and there may not be showers available. The tents used will be large dome tents, with a built in ground sheet and mosquito netting.

For advice on vaccinations, you should contact either your local doctor or a travel health specialist. Unfortunately we're not qualified to give medical advice.

The avian flu that you mention is confined to South East Asia, and has so far affected only ten people. It is generally thought it is spread by close contact with infected poultry, ie. among poultry vendors etc, and that travellers are at minimal risk.

I hope that this helps.
