Have you, or anyone you know, just returned from the trip of a lifetime to find you brought back more than you bargained for?
I am making a documentary for BBC3 about the parasites that are found around the world - an alternative travel guide to the creepy crawlies that share our environment, and sometimes our bodies! They affect millions of people around the world but are vitually unheard of in developed countries with effective sanitation - that is, unless intrepid travellers bring back some extra, unintentional souvenirs!
This programme will hopefully bring to people's attention some of the issues that the developing world faces, as well as being a fascinating and gruesome insight into these lurking horrors.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has had experience of parasitic infections, particularly Bilharzia/schistosomiasis, who might be interested in taking part in the programme.
