Hi,
I am planning to sign up for one of the 2010 Heart of Africa trips. What is the best time of year to take this trip? I'm more interested in a better chance of seeing wildlife than seeing a more spectacular view of Victoria Falls.
Thanks,
Ken.

Hi Ken
There is no bad time to see wildlife in Africa - whenever you go you will normally be rewarded with outstanding game viewing. However, if you have flexibility in when you can travel you can keep in mind rainy seasons and wildlife viewing patterns.
In terms of the Tanzanian parks the main rainy season stretches from April to May, there are also lighter shorter rains in November and December.
The migration in the Serengeti area is from November to June so this is a good time to see the big herds. Obviously keep in mind that the rains are increaingly unpredicatable and this does therefore impact on the migration pattern as well.
Further south in Zambia the rainy season is from November to April. August and October are often considered as some of the best months to see wild animals in this area.
I hope this helps
Best wishes
David
