A couple of questions about this trip:
1) What is the camping like? Is it very basic i.e. bush camping or in proper camp sites - are you expected to erect your own tent or help out with camp chores?
2) When is best time to travel here - i.e. avoiding the rains as much as possible - have had conflicting information about whether best time is from November or October onwards. Can you help?
Thanks

Re: Omo Valley
Hi Anthill,
Thanks for your questions.
I believe you are referring to our Lost Tribes of Ethiopia tour (or the combined Ethiopian Odyssey tour, which comprises of this tour + Ethiopian Explorer)?
The camping used on the Lost Tribes tour, which is only for 4 nights out of 14, is quite basic. You wouldn't be staying in pre-erected tents, but rather camping in more basic campsites where you will be required to help out with the campsite each night.
The best time to visit Ethiopia in terms of the weather is generally September to February with heavy rains normal between mid June and mid September (so the end of September/start of October onwards is best).
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions about this tour.
Regards,
Brendan
Re: Omo Valley
How is the situation in Ethiopia? I am booked into the April 1st Ethiopia Explorer, and while the current tensions seem confined to Somalia, I can't help but worry it will affect Ethiopia as well (I think my family and friends already have me dead and buried for even thinking about going there).
Re: Omo Valley
Hi Brian,
Thanks for your question.
There are no plans to alter your tour or for it not to operate as normal. We are naturally keeping an eye on the situation and continue to monitor what's happening on the ground in this and all of our destinations and you can rest assured that if any changes are made (unlikely) that you will be notified of these right away.
Ethiopia is a vast country and remains a safe place to visit. Somalia is also a good distance away from where you are going. The chance of the UIC (Union of Islamic Courts) invading Ethiopia is tiny as they are barely managing to run their own country at the moment.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Brendan
