Hi,
Hope someone can help me!
Is June a good time to visit South Africa?
Do people tend to move onto other places after South Africa , as they do South East Asia?
Is Johnannesberg ok to stay in for any length of time?!
Thanks
John

Re: South Africa
Hello.
Thanks for the post.
It's ok to visit South Africa in June.
Bare in mind this is there winter and it can be a lot cooler during the night compared to the day. The days are generally clear and bright.
The coast i.e. Cape Town is generally cold being coastal climate.
As you move away from the coast it's considerably warmer.
People tend to do the Cape to Kenya journeys and perhaps use south Africa to get into other South African countries i.e. Namibia.
Johannesburg is ok to stay in especially if you know people living there, as they will know the local area and social haunts. It can also be a good city from which to base yourself although this depends upon what you want to achieve.
Re: South Africa
JJE,
June is one of the coldest months in RSA.
Cape Town is very cold and windy. We get lots of rain.
If you want to visit the Drakensberg you'll probably find snow - it can be that cold.
Up north the climate is better and Jo'burg days are usually bright and sunny.
June is a good month for visiting Kruger Park.
Cape Town is a popular start and end point for trans Africa overland trips, especially on the route to & from Vic Falls.
It's also a good start point if you want to visit Mozambique or Botswana as the direct flights to those places are not great.
Some people do drop off in RSA on their way to Australia as the flight connections are good.
Happy Trails
Jeroen
