Would love to hear about personal experiences or advice on which Hot Air Balloon trip would be the best (and why)- either Serengeti Plains or Masai Mara?

We will be doing the "Visions of Africa" in Kenya & Tanzania next year and we think that a balloon safari would be a real highlight but are unsure which one we should do.

We have recently returned from doing the "Four Country Classic" tour of S.A., Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe and it was fantastic!!

Any input into helping us make a decision would be greatly appreciated.... or any questions about the Four Country Classic we would be most happy to answer.

Cheers!

Re: Which Hot Air Balloon Trip??

Hi. I did a balloon safari over the Massai Mara earlier this year and it was fantastic. I realy highlight of my trip. From what I understand it is cheaper than the Serengetti but basically the same thing. It was an excellent experience - the people were great, the scenery great, the food and drink great.....whatever you decide it is definately worth doing.

Re: Which Hot Air Balloon Trip??

Thanks LizC for your reply.

Hey Imtrav moderators - got any suggestions seeing that it is suggested that you book this option before you depart. Maybe one of your staff have done a hot air balloon trip and have an opinion as to which one is best.

Are these balloon trips cancelled regularly due to bad weather conditions (eg too windy, as this is a common occurence in Oz)?? Therefore, is it best to try for the first one, then if it is cancelled due to any problems the second one gives you another chance - if you know what I mean. 8^)

Looking forward to a much appreciated reply.

Thanks!

Hi Petra,

Thanks for your posting, and thanks Liz C for your input!

I agree with Liz C Petra, there is little in it, both places are amazing to do a ride over from what I have heard. The only difference is the scenery and Landscape. I have asked everyone here and the general consensus is that the Serengeti is less accessible to tourists and therefore less spoilt. We would definitely recommend that you pre-book this. It is not very common that the flights are cancelled as the weather is usually ok but if it is we will of course return your money. However if you booked them both then had to cancel the second there would be no refund! You could do both though!

Does that help?!

All in all, you can

Hi,
When you say it needs to be booked before you depart does that mean before I leave home or can I book through my guide when we arrive in Nariobi
Thanks

Hello

I would strongly reccommend that you book a place on the balloon through us as early as you possibly can to avoid dissapointment when you arrive. As you can understand, there are very limited spaces available on the balloon and it will likely be fully booked when you arrive.
