Happy New Year!

My partner and I are planning on doing the Beijing to Kathmandu tour later this year. Last year we travelled in Peru and had a few encounters with attempted petty theft, and one incident where a friend was mugged (but unhurt) in broad daylight in a crowded market by a small gang (literally - average height was 4ft 8"). We were also warned to watch out for real and fake (and short) plain clothes policemen carrying out passport checking scams. Nevertheless, our Peruvian holiday was brilliant and I would do it all again - except for that bloody nasty steep bit on the Inca Trail.

I don't believe that China falls into the category of requiring a kevlar-lined and chainmail-coated rucksac, but I was just casually wondering what crime we may encounter on the B2K tour.

Thanking you,
Christiana
