Anybody else on this trip? Have you had any advice about malaria tablets - so far I seem to be getting conflicting information.

I went on the China Explored trip on 27th Oct last year and had a brilliant time - the weather was great! Some of us took Anti-Malarials but for accurate advice I'd advise you to contact your General Practitiioner (Family Doctor) for their advice.
Have a great trip you'll love it.
PS dont forget your camera like I did - I ended up having to purchase one enroute.

Hi! two of us on the trip - 28th Oct, can't wait. I was told not to bother taking Anti-Malaria tablets(!?) but as I am in India beforehand, I am taking them anyway..
Will be in Bejing a couple of days earlier.

We are not going on this trip but will be on Yangtse and South West trip from 21 Oct and the travel doctor TMVC here in Brisbane advised us to take precautions to prevent being bitten rather than taking malaria tablets. eg cover up and use bug protection with DEET (they recommended 30% DEET). There is a stronger one available here which has 80% DEET but we heard that if the stuff comes in to contact with synthetic material it can melt the material so we decided not to put that on ourselves. I did a bit of reading on the WHO site about malaria and it seemed to me that the malaria prevention medication that is available may not necessarily cover a person for the type of malaria they could contract. So, our doctor's advice made sense to us and we have decided not to take any. Hope you have a great trip. We are really looking forward to this.

India & China - that's quite a trip! Not sure if you're in India yet so whether you'll get this but in case you do....

We arrive in Beijing the day before the trip starts - are you staying at the ImTrav hotel?
