Does anyone know of a good guide book to take out to China (I'm doing the China discovery trip)? Staying longer in Hong Kong and Beijing, and there's some good short guides for these, but thought the Rough Guide or Londly Planet guides are a bit big for the rest of China. Any ideas?

Re: China travel guides

Get the Lonely Planet guide and rip out the sections you don't want.

Re: China travel guides

Hi there:

Just a quick reply to the travel guide question. I am travelling in China right now on my own and I have been using a combination of the Let's Go guide and The Lonely Planet. In general, I have found The Lonely Planet to be better and more informative than Let's Go, but using both has been a great resource. I wouldn't get far with just Let's Go on its own, I should say.

Anyway, hope that helps!
Allison
