I am travelling to China in April with my family and preparing to apply for the visas. I have some guidance notes from the internet that are helpful but I'm not sure whether the photo has to be a specific size. The guidance notes suggest 2" by 2" but the panel on the visa form is the conventional rectangle. Can anyone help?

Re: China Visa

Hi Neill,

Thanks for your question.

Quite a few of my colleagues have been to China and have advised me that they simply got their photos from a standard 'booth' that you find in supermarkets/train stations etc. and then trimmed the edges down to fit in the box on the form. Nobody that I have spoken to measured the photo specifically and just ensured that it fitted into the box on the form (and they all got a visa!).

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Brendan

Re: China Visa

More visa questions.. may as well ask them here.

I need visas for India and China, what's the best way to go about getting them, through an agency or going to the embassy itself? I'm a little worried about sending my passport and everything off to an agency, but then to go up to London is quite impractical and expensive. Has anyone used an agency before? (as in one on the internet) I want to know they're perfectly safe before using them, if I do have to use them.

Re: China Visa

Hi Claire,

Thanks for your questions.

The visa specialist that we recommend is www.travcour.com. They are safe and reputable and have many years of experience. We have been using them for our staff visas for a number of years too.

Alternatively you can find a list of all the embassies in the UK on the following website and just contact them directly to find out how to apply. The visa for both India and China should be arranged before you arrive but is relatively straight forward to obtain: http://www.embassyhomepage.com/.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Brendan

PS - always post your passport by registered post because a replacement is not cheap (you probably already knew that).
