The FCO has upgraded it's advisory about travel in Nepal. I personally think ImTrav's decision to cancel its Nepal trips was premature. Will the trips be re-instated? I certainly know this would take care of a BIG headache for me and I'm sure many other travellers who had booked these trips.

Re: FCO has updated it's warning status in Nepal
Hello
Thanks for your post,
Whilst appreciating the difficulties the cancellations may have caused to many travellers, when we made our decision the advice issued by the FCO appeared to be long term, and considering the historical context of Nepal's socio-political climate, such assertions were not unfounded. Our speed in making the decision to cancel scheduled tours was intended to allow ample time for the travellers to change flights and formulate alternative arrangements. Should we have held out for longer in the hope that the FCO would revise its advice at the last possible moment and this did not materialise, those travelling would have be subjected to considerably more stress than otherwise. The decision to cancel the tours was not one made lightly and subject to an awful lot of discussion.
Discussions with our regional manager suggest that the situation remains volatile, and we believe that is is quite likely that the Foreign Office advice may change in coming weeks - thus having the potential to create further problems should any tours be reinstated.
Our decision to cancel the tours out right was intended to be the fairest, most honest way to deal with travellers, which I feel it has been. Whilst the possibility of re-instating tours existed, people would always be wondering would they or wouldn't they, which is far from a desirable to prepare for a trip. This decision was not one made easily and there is no question that it was made purely in the best interest of all concerned. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this, but we do feel that this remains the most appropriate stance to take given the current circumstances.
I hope this helps and please do not hesitate in contacting me should you require further assistance.
Kind Regards,
Robert
