Has anbody booked or been on the Empire of the Sun tour
I am considering next April I would love to hear from anyone who has been and experienced the transfer from the airport to the hotel? a little nervous about that! and any comments on spending money I hear its very expensive when you are there?

I have been to Japan in September 2008, but not on this tour - it is a fantastic destination and I hope to go back again one day!
My colleague Natalie has also been to Japan and actually did this tour. She reported back that although the directions for getting to the hotel from the airport seem daunting, that once you are there they make perfect sense and it is very easy.
As you have probably heard, Japan's public transport system is second to none and is easier than you might think to navigate, even in a massive city like Tokyo.
My own experience of the spending money situation was that it was less expensive than I feared. For example, I went out for sushi in the Shinjuku area (in Tokyo), had tuna sashimi, a chicken order and some sake, and it came to the equivalent of about £6. I thought that was pretty good. Going out for alcoholic drinks can really add up, though.
Japan is more expensive in comparison to some other places in East and South East Asia, but not prohibitively so.
