Can someone answer a question for me please....on the Journey Across China trip do you have to carry all your luggage on the 3 gorges trip??? How much actual luggage carrying is invovled (apart from carrying it from accomodation to transport)? I am going to have a look at a few backpacks this weekend

Re: Luggage
Hi Kell,
I did this tour 2 years ago and the only carrying you really have to do is from hotel to taxi, bus to boat, and such like.
Just make sure that you can actually carry it all, and don't be tempted to get paranoid and overpack (something we all do I'm sure).
Most people had two rucsacs, 1 large and 1 day pack, whilst some had wheeled luggage bags and a day pack.
More than 2 bags = too much in my book.
You will have to carry a bit in to Tiger leaping gorge so a bit of a repack was necessary between bags. The rest of the things we didn't need for this were left in Kunming. Doesn't come to much more than a change of clothes and a coat though on top of normal day activity things, but depending on the size of your day pack, you might have to take the larger pack for convenience with a scrunched up day pack inside.
Have fun,
Jerry
Re: Luggage
Thanks I was looking at getting an actual back pack kinda of bag but might get more of a suit case and bring a day pack as well. That way I can use it more for other trips. Thanks guys
