Hi Aaron,
May is the pre-monsoon. You'll find temperatures of around 12C in Namche (3450m). There will be a fair amount of rain that you'll have to prepare for.
Hopefully you'll get a chance to see the bloom of the most colourful rhododendrons between 2-3000m.

I am hoping to go to Nepal sometime between June & Sept. I know this is the monsoon season and therefore there are no tours running. As a first time traveller (given the weather and my inexperience) should I shelve my plans for Nepal for now?

Hi Tom,
In Nepal the monsoon rains begin in June, reach their peak in July/August and then recede as Autumn approaches.
At the height of the monsoon you won't get continuos rain, normally you get showers during the day and then heavier rain at night. The main reason we don't really run tours at this time is due to the fact that visibility is poor and you don't get the mountain views which are usually a major reason why people go to the area.
You could go to Nepal during the summer, get a bit wet and not see the mountains very well but still have a blast, it all depends on your motivations for going.
