Hi,
I am new to this forum and I was just wondering if anyone has taken the "North Indian Hightlights" tour and what they think about it?

Also I was wondering if anyone is taking this tour that departs Nov.17, 2002 and would just like to discuss the upcoming tour?

Regards,

Tom

Re: North Indian Highlights

Hi Tom

My girlfriend and I are booked on the Northern Highlights trip departing on Nov 17th. Neither of us have been to India before so we are very excited. I've only heard great things about the trip so it should be brilliant.

We're coming from New York (I'm an Aussie, she's American), so the Taj Mahal et al seem like a long way away at the moment - counting down the days!

Look forward to meeting you in delhi on the 17th

Cheers

Re: North Indian Highlights

Hi Simon,
Yes I am also really looking forward to going to India as never been there either and I do alot of travelling and that was one place I always wanted to see especially the Taj Mahal!!! I am getting into Delhi one day ahead so I can explore a little on my own.

Even though the trip seems so far away, as with all my trips it comes quicker then you think especially when you try not keep thinking about it.

So do you and your girlfriend do alot of travelling?

Look forward to hearing from you again.

Tom

Re: North Indian Highlights

Hi Tom

Yes we are both keen travellers - in fact India is mid way through a 3 month trip which starts in Italy and Egypt, then after India, to Thailand and Vietnam. We'll arrive in Sydney before the end of the year.

Where are you travelling from?

It might be a good idea to put a separate post out to see if we can contact anyone else travelling on the Nov 17th trip

Cheers

Re: North Indian Highlights

Hi Simon,

I am just coming from PA in the USA as I do alot of travelling but only twice a year. Back in June I was in Africa for over two weeks and had a really good time. I am looking forward in going to India as I am anxious in seeing the Taj Mahal as that will be my 3rd of The 7 Wonders of the World that I seen.

I did start a new topic for the groupf of us that are going on the Nov. 17th North Indian Highlights in hopes we can get to know our other travelers.

Talk to you soon.

Re: North Indian Highlights

I took this trip in January 1999, alone, on the advice of my travel agent. It was so fantastic that I'm thinking of taking it again, with my husband, next year.

You get everything from luxury hotels to 2nd class sleeper cars, crowded cities to wildlife, ancient ruins to living culture. Our tour guide was super cool, easy going and competent. The Indian van drivers were good too (something I worried about before going). And the group was good mix of men and women, 20-60+ years in age, with Americans, Aussies, Londoners, Canadians and even one Greek.

The only thing I would have liked is more time in Delhi. You can't absorb anything on arrival because the jet lag is so bad. Then on the way out, there's no time. I'd add some days on my own next time.

Take plenty of film. Any money. You'll want to buy everything you see -- particularly in Jaipur which seems to be the handicrafts capital of India.

Don't miss the masala dosas (potato curry in a huge crispy crepe) just down the street from the Delhi hotel either. They're the best!
