Thanks to everyone who contacted me wanting information about my time in India. I have been inundated with queries and will get back to everyone as soon as possible.

It's a fabulous place - you'll all have a great time.

Re: Rajasthan Safari - My recent experience

Hey guys,

In regards of what to take, the Pre-Departure booklet and tour dossier are very good sources, the former dealing with general items, the latter with those unique or specific to the relevant tour. For example, the tour dossier for the Rajasthan Safari states that the special luggage requirements for the tour are a sleeping sheet, for use on the overnight trains section, and a day/rucksack.

Travelling light is essential for two reasons. Firstly as I am sure you are aware, many airlines impose a 20 kilo limit on luggage and secondly apart from the few occasions when hotel porters may help you with you bags, you will have to carry your own gear. So the golden rule is 'don't pack what you cannot comfortably carry'.

For ease of use, the best type of bag to take is a backpack or holdall with shoulder strap, as these are less bulky, thus easier to pack and carry that rigid suitcases.

A concise list of packing suggestion are avaliable at http://www.imaginative-traveller.com/downloads/index.php and then selecting the relevant part of the Pre-Departure Information. Here you will see an important saying to always have at the back of you mind when preparing to go. It says 'A Wise Man once said that when you are packed and ready to depart on holiday, you should discard half your luggage and take twice the money!' which is always a sure fire way of ensuring your bag is light enough and what you return back with will be alot more interesting than what you depart!

I hope this helps and please do not hesitate in contacting me either in here or at online@imtrav.net should you require further assistance.

Kind Regards and Happy Packing,

Robert
