Re: Road to Kathmandu
I did this tour last year and had the time of my life. My tour leader was superb and really showed us the best places to go - although we went to some mainstream touristy places we also found lots of excellent little cafes and restaurants where we were the only tourists. Varanasi was my favourite place - what an incredible atmosphere ! We went down to the Ganges at night to see the puja (worship) ceremony and everyone was there praying and things. Very moving experience !
Jaiselmer is also awesome - make sure you do the camel trip. There is nothing better than spending the night in the desert.
I'm feeling all sentimental now ! Have a fab time.
Bye, Rachel

Thanks for your comments rachelrover.
Did you pass through any villages on the camel safari? I spent two years living in the Middle East and have had my fill of camels and deserts, but would consider it if there's a chance of seeing rural life along the way.
