We did the Sri Lanka Discovery in September 05, and bought Furniture in Dhammika Wood Carving in Polonnaruwa, one of the shop stops on the tour.
The Furniture arrived in Dublin last week (on schedule) but there was no paperwork with it, and customs need some paper before they release it.
So I rang, Faxed, and E-mailed Dhammika, and I put a few messages on thier message box on their web site, ALL to no avail!
Does anyone have contact details for them?
Thanx!

Re: Sri lanka Discovery- Shop stop incommunicado
Hi Buckz,
Firstly, thanks for the post on my Sri Lanka Highlights (should've been Discovery) thread back in October. Your advice would've been great but we were already on our way when you posted!
As for the wood carving place, I can't remember the name off-hand, or even if it's the same one you mention, but we did buy a couple of small items there so I may have an invoice/sales receipt at home with the contact details. I do remember taking a business card so I'll see if I can find that. Will let you know!

Hey there,
Are these the details of the place?
Tel: 027 2224021
Fax : 027 2224021
Email: sohara@sltnet.lk
If so please fax/email them again and should you still have no joy or these not be the correct details, please pass all the information onto us and our Agents in Sri Lanka will follow this up on your behalf.
Kind Regards,
Robert

Hi Buckz & robtrav,
I found the business card for that place and yes, it's the same as the details robtrav has posted. It also says the MD's name is K.A. Premadasa.

Re: Sri lanka Discovery- Shop stop incommunicado
Thanks to all for your efforts- to be fair to Dhammika, I don't think it was so much that none of my efforts were getting through, but they reply at a local (Sri Lankan) Pace.
Yes, those are the details, but I have doubts about the e-mail address, THe reply I got was from my message box message, and it goes to a different e-mail altogether. I never got a a reply on the phone.
From Wednesday (1st) everything started moving-I received e-mail and fax from them, which was enough to get the furniture released from customs, then they rang me to ensure all was ok, (With customary politeness/formality, though I was a bit surprised as I was not expecting the call at all!) and I have a text on my phone this morning that I have an e-mail from them today. The initial letter, with the necessary documentation never arrived, but a few days after I posted here the whole thing was resolved, and we are delighted with the result.
In future I will be a bit more patient, just cos I'm in a hurry doesn't mean anyone else is.
Thanx to everyone who assisted, and thanks to Dhammika who were very helpful.
Buckz
Re: Sri lanka Discovery- Shop stop incommunicado
I would be grateful if someone could also help me. I ordered some furniture in October, assured that it would arrive in January...apparently it hasn't even left Sri Lanka yet! It is very difficult to get any sort of answer out of Mr Premadasa, who I feel is giving me the run around!
Any help, would be appreciated.
