Hi
I am booked on the Tibetan Odysey trip in Oct & I would be grateful if you could help me with the following.
.
Dress code: I am keen to be respectful of Tibetan culture & have read that girls can wear trousers or skirts. My quetions are:
1- Regarding skirts, is it acceptable to show ankles or is it best to keep these covered?
2- tops; is it just shoulders that need to be covered or full arms to wrists?
3- is it advisable to take a winter coat or will a fleece & light weight rain jacket be suffice? I will be there for the 1st 2 weeks in Oct
Many thanks for you help
julie

Re: Tibet - dress code
Hello Julie C,
Thanks for your post, as long as your clothing is fairly conservative you should be fine. The dress code is not hugely strict but it is curtious to respect their culture. I would advise that you wear cotton clothing such as a shirt that has a coller and either a long skirt or trousers.
I would take items of clothing that you can layer under a light jacket for warmth.
Hope that helps
Kate
Re: Tibet - dress code
Hi,
just remember it may be seriously cold in Tibet...
People are not particularly sensitive to uncovered shoulders, but you should show respect if you visit temples. Anyway, it's going to be cold. Take warm clothes or buy on the spot. Enjoy your visit, see the link below for some photos.
