Am planning to travel China(through centre/west and southern regions) next March/April with a friend and would like to know how easy/safe it is to get around using public transport. Would like to travel independantly, not in tour group. We are female, healthy, middle aged, dont mind off-the-beaten track or basic comfort. Anyone got any advise??

Re: Travel in China
Hello Joey,
Thanks for your post.
Independantly travelling around China is notoriously difficult, due to many reasons ranging from the stark language barrier to the complex relationship with the West from a turbulent history. So whilst independant travel is not impossible, the above factors have been major issues in the creation of our tours; making countries difficult to travel more accessible and having the opportunity to be accompanied start to end by our specially trained Tour Leaders, with a comprehensive understanding of the social and cultural history, and of course, how these relate to the political and economic climate. Imaginative Traveller specialise in small group adventure travel and therefore I suggest you opt to travel with us rather than independantly in China.
All the best wishes,
Robert
