Anyone out there done this trek? I would really appreciate any important info I might need.
Also anyone planning to do or is booked on this trek for the date mentioned who would maybe want to travel together as this is the first time for me to travel alone and if I am honest, a little bit nervous about it.
Have not booked my flight yet.

There's some useful info especially on the trekking in the Trip Dossier.

Hi Martin,

You've nothing to worry about booking on your own and loads of people take part in our tours on their own as it's such a great way to travel.

Once you arrive in Kathmandu you won't be on your own for long once you have met with the tour leader and the rest of your group.

We can also book your flights to Kathmandu if you book directly with us and it's best to provisionally book your place on the tour before you look into suitable flights just in case the availability changes in the meantime.

If you have any further questions about the tour or the booking process please let me know.

Regards,
Brendan

Re: 10/11/07 Classic Everest Base Camp

I read an article last night about a man treking in Nepal.
He said that he had sorted out an entry visa before he travelled thinking it would save time at the airport.
When he arrived in Khatmandu airport he said that the que for visa applications was far less than his que and that it seemed to be moving more quickly also.
Please can you advise.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your question.

We always recommend obtaining a visa before travel where possible to save any potential problems on arrival. However it's the responsibility of the traveller to ensure they have the correct visa or ensure they can obtain this on arrival. For the most up to date advice on entering Nepal currently you can take a look at the website of your nearest Nepalese embassy or a visa specialist such as www.travcour.com.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Brendan

Re: 10/11/07 Classic Everest Base Camp

That guy you refer to in your above post must have been very unlucky, then. I went to Nepal with ImTrav in November 2004, and had a visa (supplied by Travcour) prior to arrival.

When I arrived at Kathmandu airport, there was no queue whatsoever for those with visas (I think I was the only one on my flight who had one!), and I sailed through. There were about 15-20 people without visas queuing for admission, though.

Really, it's pure chance, I would have thought. I don't think those who had to queue waited very long. I doubt you'll be stuck at the airport for very long either way, visa or no visa.
