Hi all
Are you still there? Can you help?
Have you managed to get Chinese visas yet. I seem to be having problems. The Visa Agency say that i need a letter of invitation from Tibet.
What did you have to submit to get your visa?
Any help/advice appreciated.

Hi all
Just returned from the Journey across China tour and had a fantastic time with a mixed group from all over the world. Highlights include the Great Wall, Tiger Leaping Gorge, Cookery and cycling in Yangshuo (I hadn't ridden a bike since I was abou 12!), Shaping market near Dali & Three Gorges.
Just to reassure anyone concerned regarding the earthquake (which occurred whilst I was in Lijiang) and the unrest in Tibet, Our tour leader and Imaginative Traveller did a fantastic job of re-arranging flights and itineries to avoid the affected ares and suit our onward travel requirements without in any way compromising our holiday experiences. I cannot thank them enough.

P.S. LA, are you doing an Imtrav tour through Japan as well? If so, I went to Japan last year and did the Empire of the Sun (Fuji climb) and Tatami Trails tours, both of which were excellent and thoroughly enjoyable![[Smile]](smile.gif)

I too am doing the whole trip through to Nepal. Look forward to seeing you in Beijing. I'll be arriving there on the 15th and am in Japan for two weeks before that.

I'm arriving in Hong Kong on 6 September but flying straight to Beijing on 11 September so I have a couple of days there beforehand. I really wanted to visit Shanghai but I guess that will have to wait until another trip![[Smile]](smile.gif)
After I finish the trip I'm doing another one through Nepal.

Sorry for taking so long to respond - I had not checked this board in a while. I will be in Hong Kong and Shanghai Sept 8-15 and then flying into Beijing early in the day on the 15th to meet the tour in the evening. After Chengdu (if we make it there post-earthquake) I will be heading to Bangkok on my own.

Well Jess, I guess we will be on the same trip then. Are you having an extra time in Beijing beforehand? I'm flying to Hong Kong first and then onto Beijing from there on Thursday 11 September. Are you doing any other tours?

Thanks for your post!
Yes you will be travelling with the Journey Across China group and then those that are booked on the Beijing to Kthmandu tour will go on to Tibet.
At the moment we are following British foreign office advise and some of our tours have had to be re-routed due to the unrest in Tibet. However we are hopeful that this situation will resolve before your trip departs in September.

Hi Jess & Kate
I'm supposed to be doing the extended version of this trip (28 days- Beijing to Kathmandu)departing on 15 September. I'm not sure if they run separate tours or whether the group travels together and then some of us will continue onto Tibet etc. Perhaps Kate can advise further? If not, I guess I will probably see you on the way.
Also, on another matter I have received a travel warning from the Australian Government advising the following:
"The Chinese authorities have said that they will not authorise travel to Tibet at this time. This may change but you should not attempt to travel to Tibet without permission from the Chinese authorities."
Given this visa is organised as part of the tour, could you please advise further?
