Day trips in Nairobi

Now that my tickets have arrived figure I best start to think about planning things. My flight lands at 6.30am on the 29th May, and as I will be arriving by myself and won’t be meeting the tour until the evening could you give me some suggestions/recommendations as to what I could do during the day? You give some examples in the itinerary so more detail on those would be good if you have some.

Can you also tell me how many are now booked on the trip? Last I heard there was only 2 of us confirmed!

Would be good to hear from anyone else going on this trip, and if arriving early as well let me know.

DAPHNE SHELDRICK'S ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE TOUR
Days - Daily
Departure time from Nairobi Hotels - 0900hrs
Duration - 3 hours : Language - English.
Orphanage open 1000hrs - 1100hrs

Highlights
Leave your hotel after breakfast and drive through Nairobi suburbs and through into the National park where the elephant orphanage is located. Here you will have the opportunity to learn more about the orphaned Rhinos and elephants.
Return to your hotel.

KAREN BLIXEN & GIRAFFE MANOR
Days - Daily
Departure time from Nairobi Hotels - 0900hrs
Duration - 3 hours : Language - English.
Highlights
Begin with a visit to the former home of famous novelist Karen Von Blixen. The house contains many of her original pieces along with some pieces donated by the makers of the film, "Out of Africa". Then continue to the Giraffe Centre where you have the opportunity to feed the giraffe from an elevated platform. Giraffe Centre, initiated by AFEW, is an important conservation centre worth visiting

FULL DAY CITY TOUR Incl. Daphne Sheldrick, Karen Blixen & Giraffe Manor + Lunch Carnivore
Days - Daily
Departure time from Nairobi Hotels - 0830hrs or 1200hrs
Duration - 6 hours
Language - English.

Highlights
Depart your hotel and drive through the residential area of Langata to Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, then proceed on to the Giraffe manor to see and feed the Rothschild Giraffes, followed by lunch and a tour at the Karen Blixen Museum.

Thanks for the info, seeing as I have the whole day to fill the full day city tour seems the best idea, depending on the price! Especially as the lunch sounds good. Also, if I was to go on the 1200hrs one, would that get me back in time for the tour meeting? I would think the 0830hrs one would be pushing it if my flight is only due to land at 0630hrs.

If you decide on the 1200hr tour you should be back in the hotel by 6pm. The tour briefing is early evening so you should be back in time for this.

Hey, finally a fellow tour member! Yes there are now just 3 of us. Think I will now be spending that first day by the hotel pool.

So where in Belgium are you from? I just spent the weekend there visiting a mate. I live in London.

See you in a couple of weeks. Really need to start thinking about what to take!
