Hi,

Is anyone booked on the Rainforest Adventure trip, Costa Rica starting on the 2nd November 2008?

I would be nice to get an idea of who else was booked on the trip and how many others are expected.

I am on the tour also.

I am from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. A really looking forward to this adventure. I would expect right now there are somewhere between 10 and 15 of us booked on the tour. What day are you flying in? And where are you from?

Hi,

Good to hear from someone else on this trip. I've just looked on the availability and it says this trip has 5 or less places left so it will be at least 10 of us.
There are 2 of us travelling together from Bristol, England. Both getting very excited, not long left now! First time we've done an organised touring holiday, but Costa Rica looks so beautiful. We fly in late evening on the 1st Nov, as we have to fly to Newark first, so it takes us about 17 hours with a 3 hour stop over! How about you? When do you fly in? and ever travelled with imtrav before?

I get in about noon on the Nov. 1. I fly east from Edmonton to Toronto (4 hour flight) 3 hour stop, then on to San Jose about another 5 hours. Last year I did a tour with Explore! another organised tour operator it was superb. I looked at a number of the operators for organised tours to Costa Rica and landed on Imaginative. Based on what I have read and seen on the internet Costa Rica looks amazing.

I'll be there

Hi, I'll be joining you on the 2nd, I am flying from Birmingham with Continetal too but working on the saturday so cant fly til the sunday. Its going to be a nice long flight by myself, boo! Apparently the there is 8 of us doing the whole two weeks, although I think its comprises of two shorter trips which other people will be on too. The other four are two couples, not sure where they are from. I travelled with Imtrav a while ago on a tour in Kenya and Tanzania, it was a fantastic trip.
Anyone taking Malaria tablets?

Welcome Aboard

Great to hear that you will be on the trip Nicky. The brochures in Canada has the trip as a 13 night 14 days excursion. Interesting that it might be 2 tours joined together. It is it, thats OK too. I have not looked into malaria pills, but will be bringing my long sleeves and Canadian Deet. It worked well in the rainforest last year in Mexico and Guatemala. I liked reading your comments about Imtrav, reassuring. Last year's group trip with Explore! was great. Looking forward to meeting you all in a couple Sundays.

Hi,

Nice to hear from someone else. 8 of us seems like an ok number, where did you find that out? And in case you hadn't realised the two of us from Bristol are also travelling as a couple. Interesting to hear that its 8 of us plus other people on 2 shorter trips - not sure how that will work although there is a costa rica trip on imtrav which is 7 or 9 days I think, so maybe we all join up for that bit and make a bigger group?

If you look on the forums here and look at central america, and then costa rica rainforest adventure - I was asking questions about what to take etc and someone who has been on this trip has posted a link with photos from their trip in august, looks good, lots of wildlife. Exciting.

We have been advised to take malaria tablets Nicky, although the risk is low, there is still a risk in the Limon province mainly. You dont need a prescription, you can get them from a pharmacist or a travel clinic, although a travel clinic will charge you twice as much. We are also taking 50% DEET like Dwayne and long sleeves are also a good idea in the evenings apparently.

Hey all

How exciting, so that makes three couples, and aparently unless another single girl or guy joins on the tour then Dwayne and I will have a room each to ourselves, bonus! I've got a couple of malarial pills and will be deeting it up to the max (won't we all smell so pretty).
I rang up Imag trav, asked them for the numbers, break down of what was couples, mates and singles, one male traveling (Dwayne), one female (moi), two couples, and then two mates (female). I didn't ask into peoples ages though, last year it was a good mix from 23-45, I'm 28, what about you guys?
I think we might overlap in areas with the other trip, fresh blood into the group, always good.
Not long now.

Hi everyone,

I'm coming from Calgary, Alberta, Canada (just a hop, skip, and jump from Dwayne) and I'll be joining the tour for the full 14 days. I have a few friends who have been to Costa Rica and they didn't take the malaria tablets and were okay. I'm happy travelling with my deet and long-sleeves. Although I'm envious of Sam's 50% deet as I was told the highest % we can get in Canada is 30. :) I'm arriving at 3:00 PM on Continental on Nov. 2. Perhaps we can all get together for dinner? This is my first adventure tour and also first time to Costa Rica so I'm looking forward to hearing about everyone else's travels and experiences.

PS. Sorry Nicky...looks like you may get stuck with me as a roommate. I promise not to snore. ;)

See you soon!

Hey

Hi Melissa,
thats ok, at least I'll have someone to natter with and make sure I dont oversleep in the mornings! I havent been to Calgary but have travelled quite a bit around B.C and Alberta and thought everyone was lovely so sure we'll get on fine. I'm pretty sure anything higher than 30% deet melts plastic, it'll be fun to try! I arrive really late so won't be around for dinner I'm afraid.
