Hi.
I have booked on Sri Lanka Discovery for Jan 27th 2007 and wondered whether there are others on the tour who would like to get in touch.
Also any hints and tips fron others who have done this tour would be welcomed. Are hicking boots necessary? Luggage - do I really need a backpack rather than holdall? Is there much carrying of luggage?

A holdal will be fine - best ones are with wheels, we don't recommend "suitcases". You will need to carry your luggage from hotel to bus and bus to hotel etc but not for any long periods of time.

Hi there. It is now almost 3 years since i did this trip ( Jan 04) but i don't expect much has changed. Luggage really should be of the backpack or trolley duffle type. The luggage was stowed aboard a Toyota Coaster and flexible luggage is best. One member had a suitcase and it wasn't any trouble. I don't recall having to carry my own luggage other than arrival and departure. Though everything in sri lanka seems to be up steps, the going is not rough, and runners would be acceptable. The sturdy heavy hiking boots I took were not really
appropriate .The weather is quite mild, even in kandy.
