Is the road to Abu Simbel now open ? If so, what arrangements must be made ? I am going on the BTP tour in march.

Re: Abu Simbel

I was in Egypt in September and the road to Abu Simbel was not open. A word of advice - if you book the trip to Abu Simbel in your home country, the cost is much higher than if you have your tour leader book the trip in Egypt. In my case, it would have cost me about $230 if I had made the reservation in the US, but ended up costing me less than $100 in Egypt. Of course, there is a slight risk that you may not be able to get a reservation in Egypt, but I would guess that the chance of that happening is small.

Re: Abu Simbel

Hi there,

At this point the road to Abu Simbel is currently closed. However, we do recommend that you make the trip as it is one you are unlikely to forget.

Our tours do allow time in Aswan for a visit to the temples of Abu Simbel. You are able to book cheaper flights locally but departure cannot be guaranteed on the date you require. We suggest that you book flights with your agent prior to arrival to avoid disappointment.

Hope that covers everything.
