re the Abu Simbel side trip offered on the Jewels of Egypt tour - I notice there are two options - by bus or by air. Can you tell me which option most people pick on their tour? Does the tour usually stick together with this side trip? There is a big difference in price of course for the flying, so just planning my budget! : )

Re: Abu Simbel side trip

Hi Sarah,

I went on this tour last year and had organised to fly with the travel agent prior to arriving in Egypt and finding out that eveyone else on the tour was going to go via bus, we only organised to fly because it was optional we weren't sure if anyone else was going - didn't want to miss it!

We did end up changing it to go via bus (after a lot of hard work to get it changed - I don't suggest it)
Make sure you take a pillow or something to keep yourself comfortable in the bus as it is a long bumpy trip.

Hello there,

Thanks for your posting regarding the Abu Simbel excursion.

I have to agree with Loza, most people do opt for the Bus to be honest.

a) Its cheaper, especially if you are on a budget
b) You actually get a bit more time there!

I hope this helps?

Amy

Bus Bus Bus Bus.
Everyone went, everyone slept all the way, except to wake pup the odd time just to look around.
Abu Simbel is Magnificent- once cos they built it, and twice cos they moved it and built it again.

Re: Abu Simbel side trip

All of our tour went by bus - a very long journey but you can sleep if you want. I would recommend staying awake though as the scenery is amazing (well if you like that type of scenery).

Have fun!!

Re: Abu Simbel side trip

Thanks all for your replies. I was secretly hoping most people would go by bus as yes I'd heard too that you get to spend longer there. 4 days till I arrive in Cairo... getting nervous now!
