can anyone tell me if it's easy to buy alcohol in egypt, especially vodka?
Is it better to buy at the airport on the way over? How about the MS Melodie, is the drink expensive on board?
Thanks
ps i'm not an alcoholic

Re: alcohol in egypt
Buying alcohol is not a problem in Egypt particuarly Cario.
It is possible to by Alcahol on the Melody!
I have asked a collegue and they said when they traveled on the Melody it was approximeatly 7 Egyptian pounds somewhere in the region of 60-70 pence.
Re: alcohol in egypt
My experience in Egypt in regards to alcohol was that yes, it is easy to find. Just don't expect the same quality or selection as home. It's actually entertaining to see the brand names of the alochol...they try to make them sound similiar to the more commercialized names we all know but change a few letters here and there.
Also, at bars, expect that they will only have about 5 of the most basic alcohols such as vodka, dark rum, tequila, scotch, etc. Sometimes you'll be lucky and there'll be some Bailey's or the like...but you will not be able to get any of the "fancy" fun cocktails you might find at home. I saw some Kahlua behind a bar and asked for a White Russian and got a blank stare back.
Also, try some Egyptian wine...it's pretty fruity and not 1/2 bad!
PS. I am also not an alcoholic
