Hi there..
i am planning to go on the Alex and Siwa trip on Jan 19 to escape the UK weather for a week.
I have been to Egypt before but never to these regions.
Has anyone been on this trip/ region and could recommnend it..

Hi Snacks

Yes, definitely do this trip. Siwa, in my opinion is the most wonderful little oasis you can imagine. It has a really interesting history and the surrounding desert dunes are breathtaking (scenes from the English Patient comes to mind).

Alex is my favourite 'big' Mid-East city: breezy, great cafes and no hassles whatsoever for the foreign visitor as so few travellers make it up that way. Make sure you take a peel at the flash newly-inaugurated Bibliotheka Alexandrina, one of the world's largest libraries.
