thinking of travelling to Jordan in the new year, just wondering how safe it is what with it being sandwiched between the West Bank and Iraq.. has anybody been there recently? what was it like - did it feel safe? were the people friendly - any problems?

Was in the Middle East last September/October, felt really safe over there. Didn't have any problems, people were very friendly,especially in Syria. As unfortunately not many tourists visit the country, people are still very genuine and nice. It's a great area to visit. Jordan was nice as well, as for security it's as well a safe country.
