Hi guys,

Lots of Egypt and Jordan postings (and I enjoyed my time there last yr!), but wondering: anyone go on one of the ImTrav Morocco tours? Were they well run? How was safety---did you feel safe as a Brit, Australian, Canadian, or American?
thanks!
Steve

Re: anyone go on a Morocco tour?

Hey SteveJ,

I did the Deserts and Kasbahs tour in October 2004. I can not say enough good things about Morocco [Big Grin] This was my second tour with ImTrav and I found it to be very well run (even when in Morocco during Ramadan).

The locals are great, very friendly, polite and always have a smile on their faces [Smile] I did not fear for my safety at any point in this tour, although I do not take any unnecessary risks either [Wink]

The food is fantastic in Morocco and the shopping is amazing also. Be sure to bring your bartering skills - the locals quite enjoy this process.

You will also need plenty of film as there are so many beautiful landmarks to take pictures of.

I personally would highly, highly recommend this tour with ImTrav - it will NOT disappoint.

Please feel free to ask any more questions if you have any.

Cheers,
SG

Hi Sassygirl,

I'm interested in that particular tour you were talking about. Do you have any more details you could provide? Your personal highlights, whether the tour was very taxing, how the tour was conducted and the like would be very welcomed. I've hardly taken a tour before so do not really know what to expect.

Thanks in advance!

Re: anyone go on a Morocco tour?

Hello Solotravel,

My goodness, where do I even start?!?! This trip was nothing short of amazing. I have many, many highlights. Marrakesh is a real sight for the senses. There is just so much to see and do here and ImTrav does provide plenty of free time in this wonderful city. From the food, bazzars, museums, and gardens you will never find yourself without something to do. I also fell in love with Essaouira (my fave destination in Morocco). This is a small port - a Portuguese fishing village and it seems complicated to navigate but it actually is not - after a couple of hours you know the town like the back of your hand. The pace here is extremely relaxed and there is plenty of free time in Essaouira also.

This tour isn't particularly taxing, it goes at a very good pace. The walk through the Todra Valley is amazing. It is an early morning start and the sights you see are spectacular so do bring plenty of film.

ImTrav are very professional people and the tour "leaders" are extremely knowledgable and go above and beyond what is required of them [Wink]

I can go on and on about how wonderful this tour was but I am gonna stop at "Go For It" you will NOT be disappointed [Big Grin]

If you have any more specific questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers,
SG [Smile]

Re: anyone go on a Morocco tour?

Hi Solotraveller

I can second Sassygirls comments whole-heartedly -as my husband and I did the "Deserts & Kasbahs" Morocco tour last August and have been left with some of the most amazing memories from this fascinating country.
The tour has a great variety to offer from the traditional to the modern, the old medinas and souks, Roman ruins and mosiacs, fabulous natural settings like the Todra Gorge and the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert, to the exotic Djema El-Fna in Marrakech and the sand-castle-like village at Ait Ben Haddou where you can wonder and climb around to your heart's delight.... then OUR favourite city (as well)..... Essaquira.
For strolling the old-walled city and ramparts which overlook the water's edge and watching the fishermen going about their daily work and the hundreds of gulls that soar in the thermals around the fort, mingling with the friendly locals in the diverse narrow streets, and eating at the many cafes - you can't get better!!! We extended our stay and had 5 extras days at the end of our tour in Essaquira which topped off a great tour and we can HIGHLY recommend this tour.
At no time as Australians, did we feel unwelcome, intimidated or unsafe. ImTrav's itinerary gives you a great opportunity to appreciate the tapestry of Moroccan life.
Hope this helps you to decide to discover Morocco for yourself - you wont be disappointed!!
Cheers, PETRA

Re: anyone go on a Morocco tour?

CORRECTION: We had 3 extra nights in Essaquira which made 5 in total.
Thanks.
