I've just got back from Egypt and the only word I can use is AWESOME!
It was my first visit for a couple of years and being a Yank I thought hard before going this time. It would have spoiled my holiday if I'd been beaten up for having the same nationality as Dubya.
I needn't have worried. The Egyptian hospitality was fantastic as always. I got harrassed a bit by people who wanted to ask me why America was invading Iraq, but it was mostly polite. I noticed that the attitude changed as well after the war was won and Iraqi people started to speak their true feelings.
It was a sad trip too. sad to see how dependent the Egyptians are on tourism in towns like Luxor.
If you like bargains, there's never been a better time to go. If you like peace and quiet now's the time to go. Sailing a felucca down the Nile is great at any time, but much much better when there are no cruise boast chugging past.

Great to hear that you had a good time! I wish I could be there also, but of course time & money....or lack of....is always my problem.

Hey there... I've just come back from a 14 day trip and it was just an absolutely amazing experience. I absolutely agree with you on Luxor, karnak temple was breathtaking but unfortunately, the general atmosphere of the town kinda spoiled things. But then, they need the tourism to survive so.... cest la vie.... Aswan is more my kinda town, still very traditional and unspoiled by tourism... I'm dying to head back that way, esp to scuba dive again in the red Sea. I think Kom Ombu temple is by far my fav... Love the setting and atmosphere of peace and tranquility... Hope u saw it and if you didn't, do plan for it on your next trip!!!

I've also just got back from Egypt and had a fantastic time - now is the best time to go - no tourists everywhere and all the sites virtually to yourself. I had a great time with Imaginative and thought the tour guide was brilliant and the local guides at Luxor and Cairo were fascinating. The tour was well organised and ran like clockwork every step of the way - we had a great group, I have been left with wonderful memories of Egypt, and can't wait to do my next trip!
