Hi!
I would like very much to hear from anyone that have returned from Egypt since the attacks i Afghanistan started. I'm going on the "Sailtrek and Sinai" commencing Nov. 3, and must say I am a bit worried about how things "feel" there, is there for instance any hostility against western tourists?
Regards,
Gerd

Re: Back from Egypt recently?
I just got back from a 16 day trip 'Beyond the Pyramids' and found that there were no probs at all. In fact, during those 16 days we heard nothing about the situation at all. Now that the attacks are starting to intensify - I'm not sure, but I wouldn't cancel your trip unless IMTRAV stongly advise, as they wouldn't continue the tour unless they knew it was safe. Try not to worry, and just have a great trip - I did! Egypt is FANTASTIC!!Good luck and happy travels!
Re: Back from Egypt recently?
HI,
I returned yesterday from a "Beyond the pyramids" tour. This is the best time to visit Egypt. Hardly anyt tourist can be seen. One of my fellow tourtravellers was the only one inside the pyramids of Chefren.
It is perfectly save in Egypt. You travel always with police permission. Sometimes in convoi with police protection. At all major sites enormous amounts of tourist police can be found(with guns). All this for our safety.
Please do go on your tour. The egyptian economy depends on tourism.
SO JUST GO ON YOUR TOURS TO EGYPt. IT IS SAVE AND QUIET.

Re: Back from Egypt recently?
Thanks Jan!
I am off next week to Egypt and your message has brought great comfort for me - and excitement too!
Re: Back from Egypt recently?
I've just returned from Egypt, on the Sinai trek and was out there when the bombing in Afghanistan started.
Our party had a great time and none of us encountered any trouble.
Re: Back from Egypt recently?
To add to the avalanche of other messages encouraging travel to Egypt, I've recently (last week) returned from the Beyond the Pyramids tour. It was *fantastic* !
At the major tourist sites, the crowds were minimal; there were no lines for anything ! And on a personal level, people went out of their way (sometimes literally) to make us feel welcome and safe, especially once they found out we were Americans.
Now is absolutely the best time to go -- no mobs to elbow your way through, and the weather is perfect. I'm envious of the folks who are getting to experience Ramadan as well.
So go ! And have a *fabulous* time !
