Hi all
I am on the 'beyond the pyramids' tour of 5th october and wanted to ask for people's advice whom might have been on the trip (or similar) before.
how important are walking boots for Mt. sinai ? - I have them but wonder ifs its worth carrying them for 10 days before. Also, does anybody take smart shoes for the evenings - or do places accept trainers?
Do blokes really wear white or beige trousers?

Re: Beyond the pyramids
Hey Sparky,
I have done the Nile and Beyond tour which is a combination of Beyond the Pyramids and Alex and the Siwa Oasis.
I would definitely bring hiking boots on the trip - you will need them not only for the Mt. Sinai hike but for the two day desert trek as well.
I would highly recommend you also bring a fleece for the climb as the top of Mt. Sinai is extremely cold that early in the morning. It also may be a good idea to bring some snacks with you as well as the climb is actually quite gruelling if you opt not to take a camel.
Sandals or trainers for going out in the evenings are just fine - no need to bring smart shoes. As for beige/white trousers, can't say I saw many men wearing those.
I hope you have an amazing trip, you are going to love Egypt.
Cheers,![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Re: Beyond the pyramids
Hi Sparky,
I've done Mt Sinai a couple of times and never wore real walking boots. I just wore a decent pair of trainers. The only thing you need to watch out for is loose stones & stuff on the way down and make sure you don't twist an ankle.
Not quite sure what you mean about the beige & white trousers. On the trips I did people just wore what they felt comfortable in. Some guys had loose khaki pants others wore jeans. I reckon it was way too hot for jeans and would recommend loose cotton pants instead. Although white sounds like a good idea because it gets real hot, it's the worst colour as it gets dirty so fast. Beige is better in that respect or any other color that won't show the dirt so bad.
I don't think you need to worry about what shoes you wear in the evening. In Egypt no shoes stay shiny for long, trainers have always been good enough for me, even in semi-smart restaurants.
enjoy
Re: Beyond the pyramids
Personally I wore a decent pair of trainers for both mt sinai and the desert with no trouble.
I didn't take smart shoes, wore sandals everywhere even to hard rock cafe with no trouble! Take some odour spray for your trainers if your going to be wearing them all day as the heat makes u sweat loads![[Eek!]](eek.gif)
