Hi all, I have booked myself on the Beyond the Pyramids tour on 17th March . I am going to be arriving a day early, so was just wondering if anyone was going to be at the Indiana Hotel? After hearing what everyone has had to say about this tour- I am really glad that I am going! Also one further question: Will I have time to do the horseback riding in Giza after the Pyramid tour before I go on the train to Aswan? Are there any other opportunities to do horseback riding on the tour?
thanks
Vaneet

Re: Beyond the Pyramids tour
Hi Vaneet,
While on the 'Beyond the Pyramids tour', there is an opportunity to do the horse ride on day 2 after the visit to the Pyramids as the train does not leave before 10:00 pm.
There will be another chance to some horse riding on day 15 after you get back to Cairo, and also when in Dahab, though not on the beach, as you will have 2 days free.

Re: Beyond the Pyramids tour
Hello Vaneet,
I too am a horserider & let me tell you it is worth the effort to rider around the desert near the great pyramids on the Giza plateau. Make sure you only ride horses from a reputable stable, your tour leader should be able to help you with this. The first time I rode around the pyramids it was on a horse from a grungy stable with the bridle & girth held together with string.....not something to make a rider feel comfortable or safe. I remember wondering if I would make it home in one piece as the horse started to play up...rearing & thrashing around.
The next time was MUCH better & I have memories of galloping a beautiful grey stallion across the desert sands......heaven to a rider, yes??
I hope you have a great time & get to ride around the pyramids....safely! Wish I could join you, will be there in spirit.
Re: Beyond the Pyramids tour
sounds absolutely great! thanks, i will go riding on day 2 in cairo! And to be honest I have never ridden before (though I used to when I was a kid which I don't think counts!)which will make the experience even more worthwhile!!
Re: Beyond the Pyramids tour
Hello Vaneet,
As you haven't ridden much before, I would suggest that you organise your ride through your tour leader & not just ride one of the hire horses standing around the pyramids. Whether these horses are quiet to ride is questionable. Ensure you tell your tour leader you are a novice rider that hasn't ridden for some time & that you want a VERY quiet horse. Riding accidents can happen anywhere but you don't want to be injured on your holiday.
Once again, have a great time & enjoy your ride. Wish I could be there....will be in spirit.
