We are going on your Egypt tour: Jewels of Egypt (13 Oct 2003). We will arrive a few days before the tour starts and plan to stay in the same hotel as used by Imaginative

Is this hotel within walking distance to the Metro?

Does the hotel that Imaginative use also organise day tours eg to Memphis & Saqqara? If so, do you have info (what they cover, frequency, cost etc.) or should we contact them direct to find details?

Re the Sound & Light show, we could not see it on your itinerary. Is the Egypt setup similar to your other countries in that the group leaders often organise such extra activities?

Hi Terry,
From my experience the best thing to do is to give the Imaginative Traveller office a call when you get to Cairo.
They can help you arrange sightseeing stuff like Memphis & Sakkara and the Sound and Light show. Having a few spare days is great as the show is not shown in English every day.

Hello Terry,

You should be able to organise extra side trips, such as a day touring Saqqara, Memphis, Dashur & Meidum through Im Trav. As Tom has already mentioned you can give them a call when you arrive in Cairo or perhaps start organising it now online.

I thought Khan El Kalili ( which is a huge market selling just about anything you could imagine) was well worth a visit as was the Citadel.

I went to the sound & light show on my own (which I organised through my hotel) but may be better if you organise it through Im Trav as after the show was over I was taken to various relatives of the driver's shops( jewellery, trinkets, perfume etc). This may not happen if organised through Im Trav.

Another thing I hope to do on my next trip is to see a belly dancing & sufi dancing display. As I understand it you can take a dinner cruise with these as entertainment, I believe at Cairo.

Have a great time Terry, as I have already stated...wish I could join you. [Smile]

Hi,

Where would one get the number for the IMTrav office in Cairo? Is this number a part of the travel package I will get, once I pay the full trip balance?
