Hi
I will be doing a tour at the end of the year and will have a few days in Cairo both at the beginning and end. Does anyone have some good ideas for day trips (ie: train/bus and back on same day)out of Cairo eg: Suez, Alexandria.
Any suggestions welcome
Cheers
Wayne

Re: Day trips from Cairo
Hey Wayne,
Stay away from Suez its a DUMP. Nothing to see just rubbish. Go visit the canal and get the hell outathere!
Alexandria is superb. We did a two day trip using public bus from Cairo. Stayed at a wonderful hotel (name escapes me. We visited the WW2 memorial first day (waste of time!) and the Piller? , another waste of time and money. But the catacombs were amazing. Who knew Egypt had any?
Second day we walked along the seafront which is 30k's long or more and shopped and relaxed.
Do alexandria. Maybe others can suggest other towns or places to go.

Re: Day trips from Cairo
Thanks for the reply Carol
Have heard conflicting reports about both Suez & Alexandria but I think the catacombs are definately worth a day trip. Would like to see the views across the canal to the Sinai etc but I guess we'll decide when we get there
Thanks again
