Hello --
A very sad day in the US today. We're trying to lift our spirits by planning for our trip to Egypt. Assuming that we will still be allowed to go, we have a question regarding donations.

We would like to donate our sleeping bags and certain articles of clothing in Egypt during our trip. Is this done in Egypt? Does anyone have any advice on what agencies/charities exist, where they are located, and what steps we could take to accomplish our donations?

Very kind regards, and we truly hope to meet our fellow travellers in Egypt at the end of the month,
Derek and Janet Runes

Dear Derek & Janet,

I watched with horror our morning news here in Australia. I can't believe what I'm seeing.

Are you anywhere near where these planes crashed? I can't imagine how you, all American's, are feeling. The loss of life must be enormous.

Perhaps your tour leader can help you with your donations. Have a great trip. Have a lemon juice for me.

Re: Donating goods in Egypt

Thank you for your thoughts. We are in Denver, far away from the scenes, but still in one of the largest Federal centers in the US. So, yesterday, we were all evacuated out of the city because there were still some planes that were unaccounted for. My company is headquartered in NY and has employees in the World Trade Center. We're anxiously awaiting word from our NY co-workers.

I think most Americans are grieving today for the amazing losses.

Thanks again for your thoughts. I'm hoping we get to try some lemon juice in a few weeks.

Kind regards,
Janet

Hello Janet,

I think the world is grieving at this present time. Most people are unable to comprehend what we are seeing on the TV & hearing on our radios. Please take comfort from that fact.

Is there any news on your work mates? Their families must be out of their minds with fear.

I personally would go on my holiday. I feel that Egypt is a reasonably safe place.

Janet, if you go into my profile you will find my address....drop me a line if I can be of assistance.

All the best.
