A friend and I are thinking of going on the Nile Rover tour in the late autumn, but my friend is currently having difficulties justifying the donkey trek to the Valley of the Kings with her conscience.. She realises that animal welfare might not be viewed as important in countries such as a Egypt as it is UK, but still feels reluctant to exploit an animal simply for the convenience of the ride.
I know that Imaginative Traveller is a proponent of sensitive tourism, does this extend to animal welfare for the animals it uses for activities? Would it be possible for us to make our own arrangements for visiting the Valley of the Kings that morning of the tour and then rejoin the group for the cruise.
Thanks,
Martin.

Re: Donkey Trek in the Valley of the Kings
Hi Martin,
If you do feel uncomfortable about participating in the donkey trek, it would be no problem at all for your Tour Leader to arrange alternative transport for you.
I'm afraid you will be liable for any costs which occur out side of the itinerary.

I understand that. Cheers.
