Hi, We are going on the Nile & Beyond Tour starting on the 9th May 2004 and was wondering if there is anyone else out there that will be going on this tour as well.
We are very excited and so ready to go. Looking forward to meeting the other people on this trip of a life time. Please, if anyone who can give us some insightful info about Egypt would be greatly appriciated.
We have got backpacks and would like to know how much we will actually be carrying our bags around, will we be carrying our bags everywere with us?

Thankyou Lee for your info it is what I wanted to hear, that we wont have to carry are whole packpacks around all the time just a day pack is good. Will they be safe at the hotel to leave?
The weather for May is usually around the day 32o/39o and night 15o/19o does it feel hotter than that when you are acutally there?
May is the high season so will it be busy at the places we will be visiting on our tour?

You are in for the holiday of a life time, with lots to see & do!! I have been to Egypt twice, both times with Im Trav. On the first trip I took a day pack & a suitcase with wheels....which died in action. On the 2nd trip I took the same daypack & a wheeled soft "bag/case"....this one made it back safely!! There will be times when you have to carry or drag your own luggage, sometimes for a fair distance & at times up or down stairs.

My partner and I are doing the Nile & beyond tour, funnliy enough 1 week after Geoff & kym start, happy journey guys, and wondered if anyone had any tips on how much money we would need for the 3 weeks ($AUS)?
Also curious to know if anyone can recommend a good restaurant in Alexandria. I get to celebrate my birthday there and would like to go some place nice.

A good question was asked how much money we will need for 3 Weeks? I have done a bit of a costing of expences to give us a little idea of what we are up for roughly.
Entrances on Tour: Museum/RoyalMummies, Valley of the Kings/Tutankhamun, Great Giza. Extra not on tour if we have the time Memphis/Saqqara & Light show at Karnak Total AUS $100 Per Person. Camera's are also a extra charge everywhere.
Tipping Kitty they mention in the Trip Dossier roughly at the most AUS$29 Per Person or AUS$118 Per Person for whole trip.
Food Not Included: I have estimated at the most cost about AUS$39 Per day per person Drinks are only AUS$.75 Water/Soft Drinks Beer is AUS$4.25.
For us we estimate for two people AUS$1680

Hi, I am noticing this particular tour is popular. Yes, I am taking it as well, but I'm thinking about going on June 27.
To tell you the truth, I can't afford this package, so if any of you want to cooperate with some cash, no, just kidding, I was thinking about taking the Felucca Journey, as it is almost half the price, but then I thought of it, and I don't think I'll ever have the chance to go to Egypt again, plus, with all the nasty things going on in the Middle East, who knows when Egypt will have good times like now. So, thinking about these issues, I am going into debt, and taking the big one![[Smile]](smile.gif)
I know it will be worth it.
Oh, before I forget, I came to Imaginative Traveller on recomendation of someone that has gone in tours with them, and, she strongly and many many times recommended going to see the sufi dancers in Cairo, I think they are in the main market, and the show is supposed to be very good, and free.
I have a couple of questions: I've seen pictures of the outside of a felucca, but what's it like inside? You know, to make my mental preparations... Also, the itinerary says we trek with camels, but apparently, we don't ride them. Will there be any services that we pay on our own to ride camels? I soooo want a picture of me on a camel![[Razz]](tongue.gif)
I'll think of more things to ask...

I think I will take the Felucca Journey after all, I was looking at my budget, and I think it's the best option. The bad part is I already booked the Nile and beyond journey, LOL, I don't know, I have a loooooot of thinking to do.

We would love to hear from any people who will be starting the "Nile & Beyond" tour on the 9th May 2004 or anyone doing the "Beyond the Pyramids" or "Alexandria and Siwa Oasis" starting on 25th May. We know there are about 8 People who will be doing some of the same tour as us and we would like to get in contact before we go.
While on our tour we will also be flying to Abu Simbel when in Aswan either on 11th or 12th May is there anyone how will be doing this day trip too?
We would really like to get in touch so dont hesitate to send us a message.

I'm going to be on the Nile & Beyond at the same time and it's great to be able to get in contact with other people who are going especialy as i will be on my own.

I've been reading everyones comments because I'd really like to go to Egypt - although I was looking at november time when it gets a bit cooler. Will it still be good then? Do many people do the trips at that time of year?
Jester - you said you wanted to do the Felluca cruise but then said "the bad news is I've already booked the Nile and Beyond trip" - doesn't that trip include three days on a Felluca cruise?

Yes, what I meant is that I booked the Nile and Beyond tour, but I wanted the Felucca Journey. It's not very much the felucca part as is my budget and time what's affecting my decisions.
