Hello
I'm planing to do in February one of the egypt-trips. I have the choice between the "Jewels of egypt" (with more comfort) and the "Sailtrek & Sinai" (with more adventure).
Can someone who made already this trip tell me about the experience of the Felluca-Sailtrek ?
Thanks for your reports.

And to the people of imaginative:
Is it possible to tell which tourleader leads each tour on 11th/12th of February ?

Re: Egypt - Felluca Cruise

Hi Onyx,

I can't tell you much about Sailtrek and Sinai tour but I did do the Jewels of Egypt trip last month.

One thing you might want to take into account when choosing between the trips is the slightly different itineraries:

First off is whether you want to see Alexandria or Dahab - Jewels of Egypt goes to Alexandria and only spends a few hours at Dahab, whereas Sailtrek and Sinai skips Alexandria and spends several days at Dahab. Alexandria was great, and the Museum & Catacombs were very interesting, however the few hours we spent at Dahab were fabulous too!
Having said that, both Alex and Dahab are easy enough to get to from Cairo that you could add on a side trip to either at the end of your tour.

The other major difference is that the Sailtrek tour spends less time in Luxor. There is a huge amount to see in Luxor, plus some excellent shopping. I'm a huge temple fan, so we squeezed in quite a bit of sightseeing.

The Jewels of Egypt is a fantastic tour - we saw an amazing amount, got to ride camels, donkeys, & horses, hike over hills, climb sand dunes, swim in the Nile, as well as climbing Mt Sinai. [Big Grin]

Sailing on the Felucca for 3 days on the Sailtrek and Sinai tour certainly sounds fun, we had a great time on the Felucca one afternoon in Aswan, it was very relaxing.

Hope this helps,
Kathryn

Hey Onyx,

Thanks for your post.

Unfortunately it is not possible to tell you which tour leader leads each tour on the 11/12th of February as their schedules change so frequently. But be sure that which ever leader you get will know their stuff!

Regards,

Robert

Re: Egypt - Felluca Cruise

I did the Nubian Sailtrek trip this past spring. The time spent on the felucca was pne of the highlights of my experience in Egypt. I have pictures online at
