Hi, I am leaving on friday ekkk yes two day. I have been very busy with finishing up my degree and have had little time to prepare. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a few questions?

1. What do I need to bring like the essentials for the trip?

2. What is the best way to bring money (travelers checks, cash, debit card) I see a lot of people talking about ATMS, should i bother exchanging money in the US or just wait till I get into Egypt and Jordan?

3. We have 2 or 3 free days in Cairo what are the must see?

4. we have a layover in London for like 9hrs, are there any reputable companies that do like a 4hr tour that runs right out of the airport?

Thank you so much! Luck with everyones Travels!

Kristina

Re: Egypt/Jordan Caravan Questions

Hi Kristina,

Thanks for your questions.

I would recommend that you pop over to our download page where you will find access to the trip and country dossiers for your tour, which have answers to all of your questions. It's also a good idea to take a copy of these with you on tour so that you can follow the itinerary (your agent may have sent these to you?)

If you have time you might like to purchase some Egyptian pounds before you travel but otherwise ATMs in Cairo are a reliable source of cash. USD can also be easily exchanged throughout Egypt including in some of the hotels that we use.

I believe that the Khan Al Khalili bazaar cannot be missed in Cairo and you can spend a day wandering around that area of the city. The pyramids of course, but a visit will be included in your tour.

I'm afraid I don't know about heading into England for a couple of hours between flights. Check with your airline or the British embassy in the US perhaps? You might be able to pop in to London for a couple of hours on the Heathrow Express train, which takes just 15 minutes to London Euston (I think that's the station).

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Brendan

Re: Egypt/Jordan Caravan Questions

We spent a day doing the pyramids at Saqqara and Memphis, and the next at the citadel, coptic cairo, and the market.

If I had been able to do any of that before the tour started, I might have tried to catch a train to Alexandria for the day.

Brenden,

I am planning to book the Egypt and Jordan Caravan but I'm thinking of flying to Cairo a day early. If I do, will someone from IT pick me up from the airport? As a female traveling alone I'm always a little apprehensive about taking cabs. Thanks a mil.

Re: Egypt/Jordan Caravan Questions

Hi PKM,

Thanks for your question.

All travellers arriving into Cairo (at any time of day) are entitled to a free transfer from the airport to the departure hotel.

This applies if you are arriving on day 1 of your tour or, as in this instance, are arriving before day 1 and book your pre-tour accommodation with us, which will be in the departure hotel.

So in answer to your question; yes we will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the departure hotel just as long as you have booked your pre-tour accommodation with us.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Brendan

The airport pickup guide will be waiting for you right as you get off the bus that takes you from the plane to the airport...just look for the guy with the ImTrav sign. He's before customs and will help you through that, and go with you to get your baggage.
