I am very interested in the Nile & Beyond tour. When reading the "fine print", I noticed that entrance fees are not included. Has someone out there taken this tour and can tell me how much to budget for entrance fees?

Also, the "optional" excursion to Abu Simbel, how much does this cost?

I look forward to a response.

cheers

Re: Entrance Fees

Hey SassyGirl,

Don't worry. It shouldn't be your life savings. You will need around US$25 for entrance fees that are listed as part of the itinerary.

Your only other costs would be meals outside the itinerary. Breakfast is provided every day, and lunch or dinner as per the itinerary:

B - Breakfast / L - Lunch / D - Dinner

Please allow approx. US$5-6 per day for additional meals.

The itinerary on this tour allows time for a visit to the Temples of Abu Simbel on the morning of Day 4, whether by road or by air:

By Road

we offer half-day excursions to the site by private air-conditioned coach, at a cost of US$25 per person excluding the entrance fees (US$10, including service of locally based guide). The coach will depart from Aswan at 04.30 for a 3 hour drive to Abu Simbel. Two hours are spent at the sight and there is then a 3 hour drive back to Aswan. This should be booked with your group leader at the start of your tour and paid for in cash (US dollars, Pounds Sterling or Egyptian Pounds).

By Air

It is also possible to visit the site by air. The cost is the current IATA ticket price (about

Re: Entrance Fees

I just returned from Egypt a couple days ago. If this applies to you....bring a student card, all entrance fees are half price for students. I had a bus pass that said student on it and that even worked. I actually found that the entrance fees and taxis racked up. It is about 20 Egyptian pounds for most sites. I also did the Abu Simbel trip. It was enjoyable and quite different than the other temples we had visited. I would recomend going....unless you are "templed" out by that time. I put the trip on my Visa card and for both me and my partner it came close to $300 canadian, around $200 US.

Re: Entrance Fees

If you have a student card no one cares once its not a fake. You may be a mature student, or like a lot of travelers it could be one you picked up for a few dollars!

Re: Entrance Fees

Hobo,Thank you for your response, I will be travelling from Canada (Ottawa). Is it safe to say that between optional excursions, tips, and extra meals that $300/CDN would suffice?
