I'm doing the nile and beyond tour (in 10 days!!!) it says in the trip dossier to allow $55 ($215 to see a "wide range of different sights") for entrance fees. I've also read somewhere else that entrance fees have recently gone up in a lot of places in Egypt. Does anyone know any good websites of where I can get upto date information on how much sites are going to cost? Or will this estimation still be upto date?
On another money related question, can anyone suggest a good daily budget for Egypt?
Thanks in advanced.
Nicky

Re: Entrance fees
Hello Nicky,
Whilst everything in Egypt can be quite cheap, it depends on the individual & how much they want to spend on things such as souvenirs etc. The cost of site entries aren't huge, having said that my last visit to Egypt was late'03, early '04....so I'm not up to date with entrance fees.
To save money whilst in Egypt buy bottled water from street vendors, just check that the seals are intact. This is a much cheaper option than from the Hotels. Try not to eat at the high end Hotels as they tend to have much higher charges. (same story with laundry fees)
If you can get together with a few other people to share the cost of a taxi, you can share the total. If you orgainse the taxi through the front desk, agree on price & where you are going. The taxi driver will wait for you whilst you wander about the sites. You pay on arriving back at your Hotel.
Be prepared to bargain & bargain some more before buying any souvenir. The vendors will lighten your pocket as much as possible if given the chance!!
Remember to pack your sense of humour & an open mind & heart! Egypt is an amazing country, with a wonderfully friendly race of people.
Hope you have a lovely holiday, as always.....I wish I were going too!! Kind regards.....Debbie.
