So what exactly I am letting myself into by going on one of these? How have people passed the time? Beer and cards always help :0) 3 days does seem a long time even if it will be fantastically relaxing. Was the food good? Can you swim over those 3 days?
James

Re: Felucca cruise
Hi James,
You are letting yourself in for 3 days of blissful relaxation with the chance to swim every time the felucca moors on the side of the river.
The time actually passed really quickly when I was on board a couple of years ago. Most of the time I just sat back with my toes in the water and other times I was reading, chatting or playing cards.
All meals are provided and given that they are prepared on board using just a few basic utensils they are fantastic in my opinion.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Brendan
Re: Felucca cruise
Thanks for that Brendon....Next question are is it best to get most of my spending money changed before I go or are cash machines realiable over there? I've got a Nationwide account so don't get charged any fees.
Thanks in advance
Re: Felucca cruise
Hi James,
Banks and ATM's can be found throughout Egypt and credit cards are accepted in most shops, resteraunts and hotels. But if you do want to take money to change I would recommend that you take GB
Re: Felucca cruise
Thanks very much for that very useful but why not Egyptain pounds?
James
Re: Felucca cruise
I personally took as many Egyptian pounds as you are allowed to (your travel agent/bank will tell you what you are allowed to take) and both
Re: Felucca cruise
Thanks Lynn thats great news...A teacher as well I see, hope your enjoying the holidays, going away anywhere nice?
Re: Felucca cruise
Hello James,
In the past I have taken travellers cheques & had no problem cashing them, you just need to present all paperwork supplied with them & your passport.
In Novmeber last year I took US$$....had no problems exchanging for Egyptian pounds. (have never had any problems exchanging Australia $$ either). In March this year I took some Egyptian pounds left over from previous visits & just used my cards, was very easy to use the ATM. However I was really only in Cairo on that last trip, so I cant say how successful using ATM's, in other parts of Egypt, would be.
Hope all this helps............Debbie
Re: Felucca cruise
Hi there,
Yes enjoying the hols, although as a college tutor I don't actually get the time off as I have to do paperwork and organising all day instead of teaching but I did manage to take two weeks unpaid leave to Spain and two weeks holiday to Italy so all good really.
BTW I didn't mean to imply it was difficult to change dollars just that there wasn't much point changing sterling to dollars and then into Egyptian pounds - in my opinion.
Hope you have (or had?) a great trip! Roll on the new term!!!!!!!!!
Lyn
